History

At the northern end of Coogee Beach, Giles Baths dates back to the 1850s, when there were only a handful of homes at Coogee and residents would bathe in natural rock pools with the men going to this pool in the north and the women heading south. In 1928 The Giles Gym and Baths opened offering electricity treatments and sweat boxes with your hydrotherapy in the pool. After falling into disrepair, the building was demolished in 2000, but the portico entry and the pool itself survive to this day.
