History

Tucked beneath the cliffs at the northern end of Maroubra Beach, Mahon Pool was built on the foundation of a natural rock pool and named after a local alderman who lobbied to have it built, but sadly passed away before it was completed in 1936. Over the years, generations of locals have enjoyed both keeping fit and cooling down in the pool that has been used as a training venue for the Sydney Swans. In 2019 a $2.1 million amenities building was opened with accessible toilets, change rooms and showers along with a small clubhouse for the Maroubra Seals Winter Swim Club.
