About Vincent Rommelaere

G'day Australia

Bonjour, I’m Vincent – a French-born photographer and videographer based in Sydney since 2005. I specialise in coastal, landscape, and aerial photography, capturing moments that celebrate Australia’s natural beauty.

The Early Days

I started my career in advertising, working as an art director before moving into publishing with Artist Profile magazine. From there, I shifted into videography, filming stories for brands and events. Over time, photography became a bigger part of my work, complementing and expanding on my video projects.

In 2013, I bought my first drone—a DJI Phantom 1. It was basic, with only 10–15 minutes of flight time and no live view, but it opened a completely new perspective. That moment sparked the idea for Sydney Unseen, which later became Australia Unseen as my travels took me across the country.

The journey

Since launching Australia Unseen, I’ve travelled from Byron Bay to Uluru, along the Great Ocean Road, to Melbourne, and across Western Australia, always looking for unique light and angles.

In 2020, with video work on pause, I pivoted by producing puzzles. Around the same time, I published my first coffee table book, Rock Pools of Sydney (2021), followed by One Hundred Beaches Sydney (2023), co-written with Amanda Woods. Both celebrate Sydney’s iconic coastline and have become favourites among locals and collectors.

My work has been shown at The Other Art Fair (Sydney, 2019, 2021 and 2024) and collected around the world.

Invitation to Explore

My photography work has been a journey of growth, passion, and an enduring love for the Australian landscape, evolving from the early days to the forefront of photographic technology. Every photo I capture goes beyond being just an image; it's an invitation to you, to join me in exploring the stories and beauty of these extraordinary places. I'm thrilled to bring you along on this journey – through every print and every piece of art that transitions from my lens to your home.
