McIver’s Ladies Baths

Once a sacred space for Aboriginal women, the McIver’s Ladies Baths remain a women’s and children’s only space to this day. After being used by female colonists from the 1830s they were excavated to be deeper with new concrete walls in 1876. The baths have been named after Robert and Rose McIver, who operated them from 1918 until the Randwick and Coogee Ladies Amateur Swimming Club took over the lease in 1922. Here you can swim laps with tiny fish and maybe even meet the local octopus while taking in the view.
