With its charming castle – or should that be sandcastle? – style walls, this pool is a hit with photographers and painters alike. Small wonder! Built in 1947 with Commonwealth compensation payments for wartime damage to Randwick’s beaches, the pool has two sections including a children’s area that can either be full of water or a big sandbox. While the main pool isn’t all that deep you can usually still manage some freestyle moves, or just lie back and relax.
